ITVX Hit ‘G’wed’ Renewed for Two More Series After Streaming Success

Liverpool-based comedy “G’wed” has been commissioned for two additional series following its breakout success on ITVX. The show has garnered six million streams since its launch, making it the platform’s most successful comedy since “Changing Ends.”

The series, which follows a group of young Scousers navigating life in Liverpool, will begin filming its second season this summer. Lead actor Dylan Thomas-Smith, who has earned an Edinburgh TV Awards nomination for Breakthrough Talent, will return alongside the original cast including Jake Kenny-Byrne, Max Ainsworth, Dominic Murphy, Zak Douglas, Amber Harrison, and Gemma Barraclough.

The upcoming seasons will tackle contemporary issues including consent, age gap relationships, and teenage entrepreneurship, while maintaining the show’s signature blend of humor and heart that resonated with viewers across ITVX, ITV1, and ITV2.

“Danny Kenny’s writing had us crying with laughter one second, crying real tears the next and then back to laughter,” said Nana Hughes, Head of Comedy at ITV. “The hugely talented cast brought so much charm and cheek to the show, we can’t wait to welcome everyone back to Liverpool.”

Mario Stylianides, Executive Producer at Golden Path Productions Ltd, celebrated the show’s broad appeal: “There was so much love for ‘G’wed’ from audiences far and wide. It’s great that we’ll get the chance to spend even more time exploring the joyful complicated lives of our Scouse characters.”

Written by Liverpool native Danny Kenny and produced by Golden Path Productions Ltd, both new series are scheduled to premiere in 2025, promising more authentic portrayals of contemporary life in Liverpool.
