Graham Norton to Host New ITV Reality Competition ‘The Neighbourhood’

ITV has unveiled plans for an innovative new reality competition show that will transform an ordinary street into the setting for an extraordinary game. ‘The Neighbourhood,’ hosted by BAFTA-winning presenter Graham Norton, will pit households against each other in a unique format that combines elements of traditional game shows with 24/7 reality TV drama.

The 12-part series, set to air on ITV1 and ITVX next year, will see real families and households living side by side while competing for a life-changing cash prize. Unlike traditional reality shows set in exotic locations, this competition will unfold in a familiar suburban setting, with contestants not only facing public challenges but also navigating complex social dynamics within their temporary community.

“Like everyone, I’m always intrigued by what goes on behind closed doors,” said Norton. “Add to that some dastardly challenges and a life-changing prize and I’m hooked.” The format promises to explore how public competition affects private relationships, as contestants must balance winning challenges with maintaining popularity among their neighbors.

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV’s Director of Entertainment & Daytime, described the show as offering “the perfect blend of high-stakes competition and reality drama, with a very relatable cast.”

The show is a co-production between Lifted Entertainment and The Garden, both part of ITV Studios. Richard Cowles of Lifted Entertainment and John Hay of The Garden explained their vision: “In a TV landscape full of successful formats set in jungles, islands and luxurious villas, The Neighbourhood offers a fresh and different flavour: it’s a show all about the drama on our doorsteps.”

Casting is currently underway, with ITV seeking diverse households to participate in what promises to be a groundbreaking addition to the reality TV landscape. The show will be available internationally through ITV Studios distribution.

The series represents a significant departure from traditional reality formats, bringing the drama of competition shows into a setting familiar to millions of viewers – their own neighborhood streets.
