PBS’s popular Victorian detective series “Miss Scarlet” has been renewed for a sixth season, Masterpiece announced today. Kate Phillips will return as the pioneering female detective Eliza Scarlet, alongside key cast members in what promises to be an exciting new chapter for the show.
The upcoming season will see significant developments in Eliza’s complex relationship with DI Alexander Blake (Tom Durant-Pritchard), as the pair navigate their evolving dynamic while solving cases in Victorian London. The series will also welcome new faces, including Sam Buchanan as ambitious young Detective George Willows and Grace Hogg-Robinson as Isabel Summers, a new clerk in the office.
Perhaps most notably, fan-favorite character Moses Valentine, played by Ansu Kabia, will make his highly anticipated return to the series. Other returning cast members include Cathy Belton as Ivy, Paul Bazely as Clarence, Simon Ludders as Mr. Potts, and Tim Chipping as Detective Phelps.
“Season six brings exciting twists, new faces, and the return of beloved characters,” said Executive Producer Patty Lenahan Ishimoto. “We’re thrilled to continue Eliza Scarlet’s journey and deeply grateful to Masterpiece PBS and UKTV for their unwavering support.”
The new season will explore several storylines, including the adjustment of newlyweds Ivy and Potts to married life, and the impact of Nash’s actions from abroad. Moses Valentine’s return is set to provide timely assistance to Eliza and her associates during crucial moments.
Created by Rachael New, who also serves as director alongside Ivan Zivkovic for the sixth season, “Miss Scarlet” continues to break new ground in period drama with its portrayal of a female detective in Victorian London. The series is a co-production between Miss Scarlet Limited and Masterpiece, in association with PBS and Other Mans Shoes.
The premiere date for season six has yet to be announced.
